PHILOSOPHY

Founded in 1972 in London, Pentagram is an organisation of designers, where humour, humanity and a passion for the craft play as important a role as profit.

ORGANISATION

We offer clients a wide range of skills ranging from industrial design and architecture, interior and exhibition design, graphic and identity design, advertising and communications. Our focus always has been and always will be idea-based design. We are not decorators, but collaborators in the definition of the most creative, motivating and cost effective design solutions. When we need other skills to complement our own, we form relationships with resources that best benefit the needs of our clients.

PARTNERS

Pentagram is organised around 19 partners (directors): eight in London, eight in New York, one in San Francisco, one in Austin, Texas and one in Berlin. The partners are all practising designers, recognised in their particular fields. Although they usually work independently, one partner will often collaborate with another and draw on the resources of the whole organisation as the need arises.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Every design project undertaken is led by a partner and is carried out with his or her dedicated team of designers. This guarantees the client a high level of creativity, regular personal contact with the creator of the work and provides effective lines of communication and administrative control. When two or more partners collaborate on a project, one will always remain the lead partner and therefore the client’s main point of contact.

INTERNATIONAL RESOURCES

With a staff of 160 people across offices. Pentagram is able to offer an efficient design service to international clients and currently has projects throughout the UK, western and central Europe, the United States, South America and the Far East. Pentagram provides these services to small and large companies and multi-nationals. All clients, of whatever size, benefit equally from the full weight of Pentagram’s experience and resources.

We have a worldwide network of collaborators offering a broad range of expertise, who contribute to the capabilities of the partnership. They include organisations and individuals from new media designers, PR agencies and market research companies, to structural engineers, lighting and cost consultants, craftsmen, photographers, illustrators and publishers.
