Following DDB’ s long term lease of the old salt depots formerly owned by Tekel in Kasımpaşa, a through restoration and transformation project was designed for the building. Comprised of four separate galleries and surrounded by thick stone walls with more than ten metters in height, this robust structure was added the much – needed mazzanines that are connected to one another. The different departments and service areas of the company wera zoned with respect to the galleries. In compliance with the existing layout of full and empty spaces, a second structure of steel and glass has been designed without interfering with the stone walls. To preserve the original fabric of the structure, all stone Wall joints have been washed and reinforced with a solution deemed most appropriate after careful chemical analyses. During this process, the formerly damaged or destroyed stones were also restored.
